I greatly enjoyed participating in the American Bar Association Conference organized in July 2023 in Paris by the ABA Cross-Border Institute.
Apart from the keynote speech (see below) that I had to give, I was very pleased along with Alexia Sedykh of the French ministry of Justice and Alexander Blumrosen, a colleague at the Paris Bar, to be part of the panel responsible for presenting the legal issues involved by evidence-taking abroad in applying the Hague Evidence Convention as a means of reconciling evidence-gathering procedures in the United States and France, i.e. resolving the conflict of laws between US pre-trial discovery and French Evidence Law (so-called Blocking Statute).
